Covering 300 acres of land along the Middle Oconee River, The State Botanical Garden of Georgia has plants representative of both the local geography and climates around the world. The Heritage Garden holds a fascinating array of plants important to the state's past, including both edible and decorative species. Five miles of trails wind through the grounds, making it the perfect place to take a long, scenic walk no matter what the season. The gardens sit beside the University of Georgia campus on the south side of the city.
Gardens open daily Oct - Mar: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Apr - Sep 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Visitor Center, Conservatory, Cafe and Gift Shop open Tue. - Sun., hours vary.
